Indications for Early Pregnancy Testing
It is recommended to undergo a non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) in the following situations:
- Risk of chromosomal abnormalities detected during ultrasound and biochemical screening.
- Maternal age of 35 and older and paternal age of 40 and older.
- Family history of hereditary diseases or children with chromosomal abnormalities.
- Either parent has a diagnosis related to chromosomal disorders.
- Unfavorable medical history (miscarriage, stillbirth, infertility).
- If you have had illnesses during pregnancy.
- Use of IVF.
Since fetal aneuploidies can occur even in people outside the risk groups, we recommend that all pregnant women take the non-invasive prenatal test for peace of mind regarding their child’s health. The test can also be performed in cases of twin pregnancy!
Contraindications for NIPT
NIPT is an effective and safe method for detecting chromosomal abnormalities. This high-tech test has virtually no contraindications. However, testing is not recommended in the following cases:
